I finally made time to work in my pocket memory (project life) book this morning and was able to catch up with August.
As I've mentioned over and over and over relentlessly ;) I document my family's year with 1 traditional 12x12" book and 2- 8 1/2x11" books- one 8 1/2x11" book for our summer months and another for December Daily (coming up quick!). The last time I blogged about my pocket memory book, I mentioned that I recapped our summer months (June, July, and part of August) in my 12x12" book as I'm back to working in there after completing our summer book. (See part 1 of our summer book here and part 2 of it here). I still had the rest of August to complete after those layouts.
I shared a couple of my favorite pictures from my girls' first day of school this week. I added a Design H pocket protector for extra pockets and inserts.

I love this school themed paper I picked up a couple of years ago in Target's clearance section (I don't know the name of the company or designer). It's my go-to paper for school themed layouts. I journaled a bit on this spread, but kept it private as it includes names of teachers.

Above, on the left, is the back of the Design H page protector and a sheet Addy colored for kindergarten.

Above is week #34 on the right. I excluded the inserts so you could see what the entire layout looks like. My soon to be sister-in-law Jenna gave me a kit which included the wood veneers. She has several kits in her etsy shop. (LOVE!) I included a couple of pictures and the recipe for Greek yogurt 52 ways #23 Ina Garten's orange banana smoothie* in this layout.
(*This morning for breakfast I added a handful of spinach to this smoothie to make it a "green smoothie." It was not the prettiest color! :/ Still technically "green" though with all that spinach. It was delicious, too).

Above is the last spread for August. That picture of Juli with the watermelon is one of my all time favorites of her. Finally, I included a couple of pictures and the recipe for Greek yogurt 52 ways #24 yellow summer squash bread- my family couldn't get enough of this bread when I was baking it with yellow squash from our garden.
And there you have it! August is in the books. :)
