september recap

Every month at the end of the month, I recap my monthly activities and goals and link to various personal blog posts. See this year's monthly recaps here. See 2014's monthly recaps here.

September is one of my favorite months of the year. I'm excited for fall, school is starting (it used to start in September anyway), and personally- Lani's and Juli's birthdays are this month. It almost feels like a January to me- like I'm starting fresh.

As far as paper crafting, my sister Jasmine shared more of her pocket scrapbook with us this month.
See May here:

See June here:

I am really enjoying her posts.

I got a little of my 12x12" pocket book done this month.

I shared my summer recap in my 12x12" book (a couple of layouts for June, July, and August) here:

Aside from my pocket scrapbook, I also paper crafted in another way- making invites for Lani's birthday (her first sleepover ever). See here:

As far as my Greek yogurt 52 ways project, I added 2 new recipes. I added red velvet cupcakes:
greek yogurt 52 ways: # 25 red velvet cupcakes
and a pumpkin pie smoothie:
greek yogurt 52 ways: # 26 pumpkin pie smoothie
That pumpkin pie smoothie deserves all the heart eyes emojis.

I am also at the halfway point with this project. 26 done and 26 to go. Read more about how I feel about that here. ;)

As far as my goals for September... eh. This is how it went:
  • Read daily
    • I have a goal for the year, which is to read for 15 minutes every day. I set this goal in January (see here) and have been mindful of it every month. (See my current reading project here).
    • I didn't read daily, but I did read. (I'm currently reading The Girl You Left Behind by Jojo Moyes, but pausing to read After You by Jojo Moyes, which just came out this week. !!!) I've noticed that once I finally get into a book I tend to devour it quickly. Instead of reading 15 min. a day, I'll read for 2 hours one night... it's something to think about as I set goals for the month (and soon for the year).
  • Eat a healthy dessert 3 times a week
    • This is another goal I made in January. I have been working on this. See my progress here.
    • Again, I wasn't consistent with this, but I did incorporate a few healthy desserts or opted for none when I wasn't feeling dessert anyway. Because I was mindful of it, I made good choices. I consider this a success.
  • Incorporate low-impact workouts into my daily routine
    • I need to finally accept the limitations of my foot injury and realize there are other fun, low-impact workout options.
    • Again, I lacked consistency, but I was active overall in my daily life.
    • Plant winter vegetables
      • See our raised, garden beds here
      • I thought about it. Ha. This one's a bummer, but there's always next month!
    • Eat more vegetables
    • Track
    • I did. I did. :) Not consistently, but I feel good about what I did do.
    • Stick to my "new," evening routine
    • I stuck to my evening routine much more this month than I have all year. I wasn't perfect, but I can see my routine slowly embedding itself into my life. That feels like progress.
    • Complete Project "465" (inspired by Jessica O'Brien)
      • Still working on this. :)
So that's that. I'll be back tomorrow to share my goals for October.  See you then!
