summer break diary 2015: week #7
**My daughters are currently on summer break. Like last year and the year before, we are planning to do one, fun activity with them every day of their break.
(See 2015's summer break activities so far here. See 2014's summer break activities here and 2013's summer break activities here).
I will be documenting our various projects together and sharing them here on Mondays (typically) and possibly more detailed projects within the week. Read more about how this project got started here.**
On Sunday (day 44) we went to visit my sister in law in LA and had dinner together. She made tacos for us. (Best ever).
On Monday (day 45) I took my girls to the library to return books and check out more books as we do every week. Every week, participating kids get a prize for reaching the goal they set at the beginning of summer. They set goals based on pages, minutes, or books read. My girls have been reading diligently.
On Tuesday (day 46) my mom took my girls to the library (again!) for the summer reading program. Then they went back to her house, spent the afternoon and evening with her. This week they crocheted granny squares. Jesse, my brother-in-law Oscar, my sister Jasmine, Juli, and I went bike riding again and then had dinner together.
On Wednesday (day 47) my mom invited us over for dinner for an early birthday celebration for my brother who turned 21 this week. (Happy birthday, Josh!) We also worked on the girls pocket squares for their pen pals.
On Thursday (day 48) we worked some more on the girls' pocket squares for their pen pals. Though this part isn't fun, we started tidying our house for special guests coming over on Saturday.
On Friday (day 49) we spent part of the day tidying our house (okay- most of the day). That night we had our favorite dinner lately (inspired by Tracy) and our frozen treat for dessert. (Not the funnest Friday, but sometimes we have to roll with it!)
On Saturday (day 50) our special guests came over for lunch and play time. Addy and Sydney are BFFs as their necklaces say. :)
These are my layouts for this week:
I was not feeling like creating these layouts this week. It took forever! (I think I'm losing steam). But a goal is a goal, right?? I pushed through and finished them up this morning. Overall, I like how they turned out. There are a few things that I don't like from some of the layouts, but whatever! I am moving on with my life. ;)
Supplies and embellishments:
