**My daughters are currently on summer break. Like last year and the year before, I am planning to do one, fun activity with them every day of their summer break.
(See 2015's summer break activities so far here. See 2014's summer break activities here and 2013's summer break activities here).
I will be documenting our various projects together and sharing them here on Mondays (typically) and possibly more detailed projects within the week. Read more about how this project got started here.**
Last week was my girls' first week of summer break. It was a slow week, but it was the first week, so that's how it goes sometimes. ;) We slept more, stayed up too late, read, watched too much TV, cleaned things that had been severely neglected (my girls cleaned out the closet in their room and now they've made a little reading nook out of it- ha), lounged- to name a few things.
Last weekend (day 1 and day 2), we watched a couple of movies. Saturday evening we headed to the store, picked up popcorn and our favorite candy, and watched Malificent. We watched Tangled on Sunday night. (Heart eyes for Flynn Rider).
On Monday (day 3), my mom took my girls to the library for the summer reading program. They registered for the program, checked out several books, and stayed for the show.
On Tuesday (day 4), I pulled out these magnetic dolls I had bought for my girls several weeks ago. At first, I had bought one doll and put it on the fridge. My girls would change the doll, and say things like "It's cold out. What should she wear?" Or "It's bed time now. Which pajamas should she wear?" I think I like them just as much, if not more, than they do. They're so cute and fun to play with. I admit I've changed their outfits a few times!
On Wednesday (day 5), we played the boardgame"Sorry!" I won and was obnoxious about it. My littlest was not happy with me. This saying I heard from my father-in-law is true for me: "I'm a sore loser, but a worst winner." ;)
On Thursday (day 6), we headed to Michael's in search of duct tape. My girls have been making duct tape crafts for a few weeks, and were very excited to stock up. They didn't have what we were looking for though. As consolation, we bumped up frozen treat day and went through the drive thru for McDonald's ice cream.
On Friday (day 7), we intended to go to the library, walk around the park behind it, and read on a blanket on the grass, but it randomly rained! We headed home and played "Clue" instead. We're big board game players as you can see.
On Saturday (day 8), we headed to a park nearby, enjoyed the cool breeze after a hot day, ran around on the grass, and played on the playground.
A good first week, I'd say!
