My brother Joshua is engaged to a lovely girl named Jenna. That sounds like the beginning of a fairy tale, but it's not. It's a true story. ;)
Jenna recently turned 21. To celebrate, we hosted a masquerade dinner party for her.
For dinner, we had lasagna, salad, french bread, and strawberry lemonade. (Apparently, it's a favorite around here). My lasagna recipe is the simplest recipe there ever was (also not part of a fairy tale- this is real life stuff). This is it: make a meat sauce using cooked ground beef and your favorite sauce. Then layer some of the meat sauce on the bottom of your oven safe dish. Then layer uncooked lasagna on top of that. Repeat to your heart's content. End with a layer of meat sauce. Cover with foil. Bake at 375* for 20 to 30 minutes- until your lasagna is bubbly. Add a layer of shredded, mozzarella cheese. Bake for another 10 to 15 minutes until your cheese is melted and delicious looking. Allow it to cool for 15 minutes or so before eating. That's it. People seem to really like it, and I always say, "But it's so simple!"
Anyhow, as far as decorations, Jenna likes the colors gold and pink, so we went with that color scheme. My sister Jasmine made the pretty banner. My dad (he used to be a florist, remember?) made a few flower arrangements with pink roses. My sister Jasmine and her husband Oscar made chocolate cupcakes and yellow cake cupcakes.
All I really did was clean my house (my workspace, in particular) and make lasagna. ;)
It was a pretty dinner party (I think), and my soon to be sister-in-law seemed to enjoy herself.
Hey look! That's all the guests with the masks Jenna made!
It was a lovely party for a lovely girl, and we lived happily ever after. ;)
