52 sandwiches # 51: garlic + herb chicken + havarti cheese on a pretzel

Yesterday was Workspace Wednesday. I had intended to snap a quick picture of my space to share with you, but I got caught up (like super caught up) listening to Serial. Do you listen?? It's so gripping. I started on Monday and I'm nearly done listening to all of the episodes so far this season. I'm ready to get this blog post over with and get back to listening. ;)

I got the idea for this sandwich from the book Fun Stuff Silly Snacks.

I substituted a few ingredients like garlic + herb chicken from the deli for black forest ham and Havarti cheese for Gouda cheese. I bought pretzels (instead of making them like the book suggested) and heated one according to the package directions. Then I cut the pretzel long ways. That was kinda tricky. Then I spread mustard on the inside (the recipe called for German mustard and mayonnaise. I preferred just the mustard). Then I layered the slices of chicken and cheese inside of the pretzel.

This is a good, savory snack or meal. I suggest enjoying it while listening to an episode of Serial like I did. ;)
