I made one of Tracy's versions a few Sundays ago for breakfast because Tracy was completely right when she said this is "totally weekend breakfast material."

Tracy shared the recipe on her blog, so check it out there if you want the professional (as in, she gives measurements) recipe. This is my "I'm just trying to make 52 sandwiches, all right?" recipe. A it-kind-of-has-an-attitude recipe. ;)

For this "sandwich" (go with it!), I sliced my French bread in half, brushed oil on it, and toasted it in the broiler for a few minutes. Watch it, or it'll burn. Not that I know from experience. Once it's nicely toasted, add half of your cheese to the bread. The other ingredients will stick to the bread better this way as Tracy pointed out. Add the rest of your toppings- peppers, onion, sausage, red pepper flakes, and the rest of the cheese. Then, broil it for a few minutes. Again, watch it. While the sandwich is broiling, fry an egg (or more if you're making more than just for yourself. If you make the entire loaf of French bread, you'll have several servings. Again, for measurements, see Tracy's post). When you pull your sandwich out of the broiler, top it with fresh basil.

Finally, top your sandwich with your egg. My egg wasn't so pretty, so my sandwich isn't pictured with the egg. It wasn't pretty with the egg, but it was delicious. Hope you try it! I think you'll enjoy it.
