Apparently, it's green week here on my blog. Monday I posted a picture of my new zebra succulent. Yesterday I posted pictures of our terrarium planters. And today I will be posting pictures of some plant paintings.
A few months ago, Amanda from Wit and Whistle posted several portraits of her houseplants, some of which she sold (some are still in her shop).
From the top/left to right: portrait 1 // 2 // 3 // 4 // 5 // 3 (again because it's my favorite! and because I needed an extra picture for the mosaic. ;) I am super inspired by Amanda's portraits and would snatch them all up if I could.
I've come across these other plant paintings, and am inspired by these, as well:

I've been itching to try painting my own plant portrait. I recently chose my subject: the zebra plant. I've mentioned that the zebra plant is my favorite.
I'm really hoping I've learned how to better care for it (especially after two tragedies). We'll see. I've decided that while this plant is still alive (morbid much?) I would paint a portrait of it.
If you follow me on Instagram, you know that I haven't seriously painted anything since art class in 7th grade. Nonetheless, I painted this portrait earlier this week using gouache paint:
Then, I decided I needed a portrait of my plant in a basket planter (my favorite type of planter).
I sketched the outline of my plant:
Then I painted it- again using gouache:
It's a satisfying pastime. I'm looking forward to painting another one.
(My plant isn't doing too bad. Did you notice that it's flowering?!)
