Including the sandwich I'm sharing today, I've only made 2 dessert sandwiches. The other one I made was the nutella and banana sandwich (which- hello there, delicious). I definitely need to add a few more before I complete this project.
This sandwich was adapted from this book, which I borrowed from the library. The book is full of recipes I want to try.
For this sandwich, I put my pineapple ring on a slice of my cinnamon streusel bread (the original recipe used panettone). I topped the pineapple with macadamia nuts and mini marshmallows. (The original recipe also used vanilla sugar, but I thought the pineapple ring would be sweet enough). I topped my sandwich with my other slice of bread, then grilled my sandwich in my panini maker until it was golden and the marshmallows were melted.
I really liked the crunch of the macadamia nuts. I forgot to add powdered sugar at the end as was instructed by the recipe, but it was still good without it.
** I am attempting to make 52 sandwiches. Read more about how this project got started here. See all the sandwiches I've made so far here.**
