book exchange party
My sister Jasmine and I planned a book exchange party for our sister Jennifer's birthday this past weekend. I love to read and love to push my agenda on others. ;) ;) ;) I was inspired by this party I happened upon a few years ago. (I love it).
Jasmine and I invited a few of Jennifer's close friends. I shared the invites we made here. We asked each of the guests to bring a wrapped book for the exchange and to fill out the bookplate accompanying the invite. For the exchange, we drew names, and the recipient read what the giver liked about the book. Totally nerdy and fun. :)
We provided a simple dinner: a grilled cheese bar and soup (potato or tomato) with strawberry lemonade.
I got the idea for displaying the grilled cheese bar from Elsie and Emma at A Beautiful Mess.
I had my new panini maker set up (yay for my 52 sandwiches project) next to the crock pots filled with soup. The guests were able to toast their grilled cheese sandwiches and grab their soup while they waited for their sandwich to toast. (I didn't think to take a picture of the set up. Oops!)
Jasmine made chocolate-covered "bookworms" as party favors for the guests. They were so cute and yummy (and I had more than my share).
Jesse helped me make the cupcakes for dessert. :)
This is what Jennifer had to say about her party afterwards:
But of course, Jenny! :)
We love celebrating birthdays and other events together. Check out more of our parties here. :)
