my weightloss toolbox: enjoying exercise
I often think about that quote (the one above), which I read in a Weight Watcher weekly. It's by Edward Phillips, M.D., Assistant Professor of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Harvard Medical School, who sounds like he knows his stuff. If you have been following me on this journey, you may get a sense that my exercise routine has been to pop in a DVD, do it, and call it good. Lately though, I haven't been feeling my DVDs and I've spent so much time (too much time) feeling guilty; because I don't want to do them, I don't. It dawned on me the other day that these DVDs are not my only option for exercising.
I have really been enjoying the Zumba class by my house, but the class is only twice a week. My goal is to workout at least 5 times a week. Faced with this dilemma, I started looking into more Zumba classes in my area to find out that a local gym offers Zumba classes to members and a walk in fee to the class for non members. I am pretty excited about that and am looking forward to tonight's class.
The point is I need to remember that I'm not restricted to any particular way of exercising. There are enjoyable options. Once I'm tired of one way, I can retire it for a while, and move onto another way. After all, "the activity that's best for you is the one you will do."
