For this sandwich, I made an apple filling by sautéing one peeled and sliced, tart apple in a little butter (about 1/2 a tablespoon). A few minutes later when the apples were caramelized, I added 1 tablespoon of maple syrup and a pinch of salt. I had the apples simmer for a minute or so in the syrup. (This is a Martha Stewart recipe).

For the French toast, I took 2 slices of French bread and dipped it in my milk mixture: 1/3 cup of milk, 1 egg, a dash of cinnamon, and a splash of vanilla extract. I fried the slices of bread in very little butter until golden brown. I assembled the French toast with the apple filling, sprinkled some powder sugar, and called it done.

It was tasty.
