Clearly, I've been MIA for the past few days (weeks?). I’ll admit it is hard to juggle all of my everyday responsibilities with bonus projects... like blogging. I love blogging- reading others’ posts and sharing my humble contributions. Sometimes I wish there were more hours in the day. :)
One of my bonus projects this year is Project Life. I've said this before, but for those of you who missed it- Project Life is a memory keeping system created by Becky Higgins. The idea is to use sectional protective sheets to store and present pictures and embellishments. Pictures can be slipped right in their original printed sizes to make memory keeping easy. Journaling cards are also sold cut to size to be slipped right in. It can't get any easier. (Be sure to check out Becky Higgins' site because I am not doing the products justice!) I am really enjoying this project. I first blogged about it here. I probably won’t be sharing too much of my layouts themselves on my blog because I have pictures of my girls in every layout, and I don’t share pictures of my girls on my blog very much to respect their privacy. However, there are so many good blogs out there sharing their Project Life albums. Start with Becky Higgins’ Creative Team. I love seeing their layouts!
I did want to share my supplies and tools for those of you who are considering starting this project. Here’s my "humble contribution" of tools and supplies if you are interested. ;)
As far as supplies... I am using the white signature binder.
I am using the big variety pack of pocket pages, 4 pocket pages for postcards or photos, We R Memory Keepers 4”x4” pockets, Avery 8.5”x11” sheet protectors, and baseball card page protectors. I have plenty for the rest of this year and maybe even next year. I am doing a one page spread per week, and adding inserts if necessary. For example, my daughter had a mission project due this past week. I included pictures of her model and our trip to the mission in an insert aside from the rest of the week’s activities.
(As a side note, I was excited to find out that Target carries We R Memory Keepers’ pocket protectors at an affordable price. They also carry 12”x12” binders in a variety of colors. Yay.)
I am using paper from my stash for journaling and other inserts. I have plenty of stamps and embellishments already, and have been making sure I make use of what I have rather than getting too excited about this project and buying embellishments specifically made for it. I’m sure you know what I mean! I went through my enormous amount of patterned paper the other day, and got rid of more than ½… I am tempted to say even ¾ of it. It feels really good to have purged so much paper and to only sort through paper that I love. I am in the middle of minimizing all of my other supplies, as well. (I am planning on buying Liz Tamanaha's Midnight edition. I can’t resist that one. I also bought a few of her printable sheets like the 2013 calendar journaling cards, press cards no. 20 and no. 21).
As far as tools, I am using Pilot Razor point extra fine tip marker pens, Zig Millenium pens, Fiskars 12" trimmer, 3M double sided tape, and Zots glue dots. If I think of anything else to add to this list, I will. Thank you for stopping by!
