I modified this recipe from Ina Garten. This is her California BLT from her book
Barefoot Contessa at Home. For this sandwich, I spread light mayonnaise on a slice of toasted, whole wheat bread. I topped it with 2 slices of crispy, turkey bacon; romaine lettuce; avocado slices, which were gently tossed with lemon juice; tomato slices; and sprinkled with salt and pepper. I spread more mayonnaise on the other slice of toasted, whole wheat bread and topped the sandwich with it.

This is a really good sandwich. It's like Ina Garten says in her book, "I love a good bacon, lettuce, and tomato sandwich, but this is even better. . . the avocado puts it right over the top." I highly recommend this one!

I love the Barefoot Contessa - I heard an NPR interview with her last year and was quite convinced she could be my new best friend. I've never had a recipe of hers fail - but I do adjust fat and salt quantities in some recipes - I don't know how her husband stays so slim!
