my weight loss toolbox: mile a day

I completed this challenge.  (!!!)  I had posted that I intended to run a mile a day from Thanksgiving to New Year's, a total of 40 miles.  Read more about it here.  I had to alter the challenge mid December when the holidays started getting chaotic.  I didn't run every day as I had intended to do, but I ran more than a mile on some days, and completed this challenge on January 18th by running (sometimes walking) all 40 miles.  I think the next time I take on this challenge, I will do it during a less chaotic month.  We'll see.
I had also mentioned that I wanted to see how this challenge would change the way I feel about running.  In short, it has.  I never thought I could run a full mile, and surprised myself on day 1 when I did.  The biggest surprise of all came three weeks ago when I ran 6 miles all at once.  I never thought I would see the day.  I am happy to add running to my activity options.  I'll admit it isn't my favorite activity, but sometimes it is nice to have a change of pace.

  1. Great job Jessica, 6 miles ain't too shabby. I used to run a lot as well but my knees started to act up so I opted for a less impact activity and went for swimming. But I do miss running, you can feel the breeze and smell the grass in a swimming pool.
