Last week, I talked about My Weight Loss Toolbox, and mentioned that I have 10 more pounds to lose to be within the healthy BMI range for my height.
I became active as a first step towards being healthier. I bought the Turbo Jam DVD set a few years ago. I enjoy Cardio Party and Fat Blaster in particular, and use those DVDs often.
I was introduced to Jillian Michael's 30 Day Shred a few months after I bought Turbo Jam by one of my favorite bloggers (read more about it here). It is a little over 20 minutes of circuit training, and being a busy mom, I need something quick sometimes. It is very difficult, but also very effective. Because I liked this DVD so much, I went ahead and bought other DVDs from Jillian's series, including 6 Week Six-Pack and Shred-It with Weights. (All very strenuous and challenging- in a good way). I lost most of my excess weight in the beginning alternating between Fat Blaster, Cardio Party, and 30 Day Shred.
Right now, I am at the beginning of a 6 week challenge using Jillian's 6 Week Six-Pack video and other forms of activity. For example, my family and I have been walking to a nearby park. (I talked a little bit about it last time when I went into details about our summer routine). It took about 40 minutes there and back (it was about 1 1/2 miles), they loved it, Jesse loved it, and I loved it. I can see us going at least once a week.
It is definitely all about finding activities that you like. The July 15-21, 2012 Weight Watchers Weekly quoted Edward Phillips, M.D., Assistant Professor of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Harvard Medical School, and director of The Institute of Lifestyle Medicine saying, "The activity that's best for you is the one you will do." That really resonated with me. I try not to spend my time thinking about the activities I should do, but rather the activities I enjoy because those are the ones I will actually do.
